ENTHUSIASM
Here’s how we get such an awesome
group of people and lots of respect
within and around our group!
1. Be positive towards yourself, others and the adventure you are on (be it training ride or race)
2. Represent the Bikefit Sunflower Squad with integrity, sportsmanship and adherence to healthy lifestyle behaviors (i.e. refrain from smoking)
3. Wear the Sunflower Team jersey at all Sunflower rides, races and award ceremonies. Show the Sunflower spirit!
4. Always wear a helmet
5. If a severe injury occurs, call or send someone for an ambulance immediately. Do not move the rider if they cannot move themselves. If the injury is a simple road rash, then wash, clean and treat the wound.
6. Know and abide by the “Highway Traffic Act”
• Stop for red lights and stop signs
• Stop for pedestrians at crosswalks
• Know all traffic signals
• Act predictably - don’t swerve suddenly
7. Support our sponsors wherever possible.

IMBA Rules of the Trail and Road
Whenever riding the trails, it’s important to know about the following rules/guidelines, especially since many trails are designated “multi-use” and may be popular with walkers, hikers, equestrians as well as mountain bikers. In order to enjoy your time on the trails as well as for your own safety and the safety of others, please consider the following:
• Ride single file and in the “Buddy System” at all times. Never ride alone.
• Yield to ALL walkers, hikers and horses.
• Let others know you are approaching by using a bell or a friendly greeting. If it is a large group indicate how many riders are following behind you.
• Downhill riders yield to uphill riders. It is usually much easier to start on a downhill than on an uphill.
• Let those behind you know about oncoming “traffic”. (e.g. runners approaching)
• If you cannot see the rider behind you in the trails you have gone too far. Do not make a turn unless the person behind can see you and acknowledges hearing your “right/left” call.
• If asked to wait at a certain location, please do not stray away.
1. Ride On Open Trails Only.
Respect trail and road closures (ask if uncertain); avoid trespassing on private land; obtain permits or other authorization as may be required.
2. Leave No Trace.
Be sensitive to the dirt beneath you. Recognize different types of soils and trail construction; practice low-impact cycling. Wet and muddy trails are more vulnerable to damage.
3. Always Yield Trail.
Let your fellow trail users know you’re coming. A friendly greeting or bell is considerate and works well; don’t startle others. Show your respect when passing by slowing to a walking pace or even stopping. Anticipate other trail users around corners or in blind spots.
4. Never Scare Animals.
All animals are startled by an unannounced approach, a sudden movement, or a loud noise. This can be dangerous for you, others, and theEdisonanimals. Give animals extra room and time to adjust to you. When passing horses use special care.
5. Plan Ahead.
Know your equipment, your ability, and the area in which you are riding -- and prepare accordingly. Be self-sufficient at all times, keep your equipment in good repair, and carry necessary supplies for changes in weather or other conditions.
6. Wait at Junctions
When on a Booster or Groove ride, ensure that the group stays together by waiting at a trail junction until the next ridercomes.
